Skiing in Tignes from the first snow
Like every year, in Tignes, skiing starts in September and ends in May. This year, the Grande Motte glacier was to welcome skiers from September 29 until May 5! This year, however, the drought and the heat of the summer do not allow the station to open the glacier. The opening is postponed while waiting for better conditions. From the opening, you can enjoy alongside the champions and ski-clubs in training, access to the funicular Perce Neige, the cable car of La Grande Motte, the Panoramic chairlift and the 3 ski lifts of the glacier: Champagny, Rosolin and Termignon (3500).
Depending on the snow conditions, the resort will then open the slopes and lifts allowing the gradual return of skis: Rimaye, Dahu and Face slopes with the Vanoise chairlift; Double M track and Lanches chairlift; Leisse track and Leisse chairlift. Until 23 November, date of opening of the link with Val d’Isère, the day ski pass is priced at 33 €. Entrance to the lagoon pool is offered with a ski pass of more than 2 days. A cross-country skiing loop is also arranged on the glacier (access to € 15 per day).
Les 2 Alpes opens its glacier for the half-term holidays and Halloween
Another tradition of autumn: the ski holidays of Toussaint aux 2 Alpes. The resort has a beautiful glacier with slopes between 3,200 and 3,600 meters. With its 11 pistes and 17 lifts, this glacier is also equipped with a snow park. This year, the ski area will be open from October 26 to November 4, 2018. For the occasion, Les 2 Alpes ski resort organises “Enjoy The Glacier”, an event that mixes competitions, BBQ, meetings with pros, hardware tests and live concerts. Check out one of our best sellers in the Les Deux Alpes, a new residence with high-end apartments and a Spa situated next to the lifts and all the shops and restaurants: Le Chalet du Soleil.
Val Thorens and Val d’Isère open end of November
If you prefer to ski in snowy landscapes outside the glaciers, it will be necessary to wait for the opening of the high altitude resorts: Val Thorens will open its tracks on November 17, 2018. Val d’Isère will follow the next weekend, as well as the liaison with Tignes. The weekend of November 24th will be an opportunity for both ski resorts to invite the major brands of ski manufacturers to offer the first skiers to test the novelties of the season. Scheduled: test the village and concerts in the resort. Do check one of the most exclusive newly-built chalets currently for sale in 3 Valleys, more specifically the only new-build luxury chalet in Val Thorens in more than 10 years, a pretty unique real estate opportunity: Chalet Orlov.
From December 1st, welcome the winter! If the snow conditions are there, more than 10 ski resorts plan to open their ski areas almost in all the mountain peaks. This will be the case of Alpe d’Huez (see our Grand Domaine new properties), Les 2 Alpes, Châtel (weekends), Chamrousse, Saint-Lary and Isola 2000.
The opening of all ski resorts will take place on December 22nd, the first day of the Christmas school holidays.
