The match between Les Gets and Avoriaz
Avoriaz or Les Gets, which ski resort to choose?
With its 650 km of slopes (the largest ski area in Europe), the Portes du Soleil ski area is made up of twelve ski resorts on each side of the French-Swiss border. Renowned for the quality and variety of their pistes as well as for the wealth of their offers of stay, the two French resorts of Avoriaz and Les Gets illustrate very well the keys to the success of this famous cross-border ski domain.
Unique in France, Avoriaz is a pedestrian ski resort “100% ski-in,” with unusual architecture. Its layout has been designed to offer an incomparable quality of stay, at 1800 m altitude. The resort was also voted “Best Family Resort” 2013 at the World Snow Awards in London for its excellent family-friendly approach.
In contrast, the ski resort has developed around a typical Savoyard village, and Les Gets new-build properties for sale tend to keep with this approach with high-end traditional Alpine architecture, often with Spas. Dotted with wood and stone chalets, Les Gets has preserved its authenticity while opening to the ski big business. Ideal for families, the warm welcome and adapted services have earned Les gets the Family Plus Montagne label.
