Taking Possession Of Your New French Property

Posted by FindHomeAbroad on June 22, 2019

Taking possession of the new-build property by the buyer is a very important moment.
After the construction, the delivery of the French property is carried out between, on the one hand, the developer, and on the other hand, the various companies involved in the construction.
It is thus the developer who receives the works and draws up a report of reception.

The buyer will take possession of the property and will have to verify that the property is compliant in all respects and has no snagging issues.

This approach is therefore far from being a formality and will have to be carried out in an extremely attentive and meticulous way.

During this acceptance, the purchaser will draw up a list of the possible snagging issues that he/she notices and will have to notify these points to the developer within one month after the delivery. The notification must be made by recorded delivery with proof of receipt.

In the event that the buyer considers that the snagging issues are too important, it is then possible for him to consign at a French notary the 5% corresponding to the last payment to be made. The buyer will then proceed with the release of this sum when the work to fix these issues has been carried out by the developer.
