Just one hour from Geneva, the ski resort of Samoëns enjoys a prime location and breathtaking views at the heart of the French Alps. Connected to the Grand Massif, it is one of the largest ski areas in the Alps, suitable for all levels with a summit culminating at 2,500 high.

Le Grand Massif, the 4th largest ski area in France

The ski area, with more than 40,000 hectares, offers the skiers a breathtaking panorama of the Alpine mountain range. The excellent snow coverage and mostly north-facing conditions allow you to practice skiing and other mountain activities throughout the winter season.
The Grand Massif ski domain has been thought out as much for the experienced skiers and free riders as for the beginners and children. The ski area has 144 marked pistes (17 blue, 60 green, 53 red and 14 black) over more than 1,800 meters of uneven terrain.

Samoëns: one of the most extensive ski areas for beginners in France

Samoëns has not forgotten beginners by dedicating them one of the largest ski areas in France. Seven ski lifts and a snow garden ensure that young and old can learn the ski basics.

Also, Samoëns offers beginners a ski pass adapted to their needs and smart prices, to pay only according to their skiing!

The Septisnake slalom course is one of the most popular facilities for children and their parents. The slalom is installed on one of the green slopes of the ski domain, at the heart of the beginners’ ski area. It is the ideal place to learn how to turn, to master your own speed while still having fun.

The “Cascade” slope or the happiness of 14 km of downhill skiing, without the need to take the ski lifts …
Beyond the pleasure of gliding without constraint, this piste is a breath of fresh air. Along the descent, you can admire the Mont Blanc, the Desert de platé, Gers Lake as well as Tenneverge and Ruan lakes and a multitude of frozen waterfalls. In the heart of the national park, the piste abounds with a varied fauna: chamois, eagles, vultures and more. Once you reach the bottom of the “Cascade” piste, a bus takes the skiers back to the village of Samoëns.

With an altitude chalet lost high up in the mountain, the gite of the Gers Lake and its owners await their guests to unwind after a long day on the pistes. On a simple call from a telephone on the edge of the piste, they will come to pick up the skiers by snow scooter and tow them to reach their little corner of paradise. Around the fireplace, with their fine cuisine as well as Savoyard specialities this moment will be unforgettable.

Samoëns, the ski resort for all skiers

► The resort that thinks about families: throughout the season, Samoëns offers a multitude of promotions adapted to their needs: at Christmas and Easter, parents ski for the price of children; A 10% discount for any purchase of 4 Le Grand Massif ski passes lasting between 6-14 days; Free Grand Massif ski passes for children under the age of 5 and senior citizens over 75 years old.

► The meeting point for experienced skiers: La Combe de Gers will satisfy all ski enthusiasts: this magnificent spot, isolated from the rest of the ski area, offers a black slope with 800 m of descent and plenty of off-piste to enjoy. The more experienced will have the pleasure to indulge in heliskiing or speed-riding to add to the thrills!
