That said, winter sports fans from France and other countries come here for many years. They spent their days skating on the frozen lake and doing soft telemarking in the hilly fields that surround it. Morzine is the capital of the immense cross-border ski area of the 600 km Portes du Soleil in Switzerland.
In addition to being a good starting point for families, Morzine has a lively après-scene scene with many bars. For those who enjoy off-piste activities or who are not dedicated to full days on the slopes, there is a reasonable amount of other activities to fill the hours.
